Me
So that's me in the photo. I don't have really good pictures of myself, I'm normally on the other side of the camera.
Here's a quick background. I'm from New Zealand. If you don't know where that is, it's to to the right of Australia. If you get to South America, you've gone too far. I graduated from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand in 2000 with a Masters in psychology, though I have never been, and never want to be, a psychologist. I studied it because how the brain works interested me, and it still does. While I have done a number of jobs in the past (factory work, farm work, retail), I have been working in English language education since 2000. I've worked for three universities in China and a language school in New Zealand. Currently I'm at East China University of Technology in Fuzhou, Jiangxi, where I've been working since 2010. I love teaching, and enjoy working with my students, both in class and out. So, there's another picture of me with an award we won in the 2018 Regionals of the FLTRP Debating Cup. Also in China I met and fell in love with the woman who is now my wife. We have a young son who is, mostly, a great boy. For his sake, and for a change of pace, we'll be moving to New Zealand in the middle of 2019. While I work in education in China, I have reservations about the school system here. I would prefer my son to go to school somewhere where he has a chance to develop in an all-round fashion, not just being force fed academically. Which, if you've read the home page, basically explains why I now have a website. Other things about me, which may or not interest you; I love cooking, and people like my cooking about 80% of the time. I love good music, but we may disagree as to what good music is. I prefer Linux to Windows. I do all the stuff I said on the home page. |
